Ok, a bit of honesty to begin with, there is no us... just me. I am Derek Nelson, freelance website designer and developer based in Motherwell, Scotland.
I also work for North Lanarkshire Council as part of their website team. This team has recently launched the council’s new website. This has been a massive project that completely modernised our web platform and strategy.
redNests was founded in the summer of 2007 to give me a creative outlet away from work that will develop my skills on smaller, more cutting edge websites.
I believe that everything and everyone should have a purpose. I create websites that are simple and easy to use while looking great. As someone who enjoys both design and technology, creating websites is an extension of who I am.
For further information on my skills and experience, I maintain a LinkedIn page.
The name comes from the associations with the words, red and nests.
red - innovative, energy, different, exciting, stop, passion, love, dangerous, attention grabbing, hot, radical, different
Nests - home, safe, secure, has a purpose, built with care, appropriate, a place to grow, structure, design, many materials
When combined they form what I see as the website ideal... something that is well-built with a purpose, while at the same time different and attention grabbing.
